Dollars for Diane 33
Dollars for Diane 33 was a two tiered benefit held in January, 2010. It was held in conjunction with the 33rd birthday of Diane Kovaleski (who is the younger sister of DAMES Editor, Karyn Albano). Diane was a Wilkes-Barre resident who suffered a severe brain injury during surgery to remove a tumor from her optic nerve in 2007. This has left her unable to walk, talk, or care for neither herself or her young daughter, Zayda.
The event consisted of a benefit concert held on January 31, 2010 and a CD compilation made of songs donated by original Pennsylvania artists. All musicians involved donated their time and effort 100%.
Family and friends have rallied for Diane’s cause in the past, and these events have helped finance Diane’s medical care. This time the proceeds benefited The Center for Brain Injury and Repair at the University of Pennsylvania and a scholarship fund for Zayda.
As of June, 2011, over $1800.00 has been donated to these causes.
