DAMES of PA’s Top 5 Albums of 2010

Each day during the week of March 7, 2011, we revealed our top 5 albums from 2010, counting down from #5 to #1. These rankings are our purely our opinion and (obviously) slanted in favor of those musical acts with whom we are familiar and have had the opportunity to carefully listen to and cover on our site.

For 2010, Pennsylvania music went in a more stripped-down and authentic direction, as portrayed in this very diverse list, one is traditional folk, one is blue grass, one theatrical, one English style post-alternative, and one by a 12-year-old girl. We also hope that these rankings spark interest and debate among our readers and we encourage each of you to leave comments.

Cabinet
A live album by a blue grass jam band may not, at first, seem like the ideal candidate for the album of the year on a site which primarily focuses on rock and pop. But This Is Cabinet, Set 1 by the sextet Cabinet has superb musicianship, entertaining songs, and is a notch above all others released in 2010.
